Leaving the Ocean behind in Malaga

Costa del Sol
Inspiration

Spend a day playing Golf, paddel or just hang out at beach, great ideas, we have done all of that but suggest a different experience in this gorgeous strip of southern Spain. Rent a car and embark on a journey that will lead you through the enchanting towns of Setenil de las Bodegas and Ronda, allowing you to experience the very best of this remarkable region.

To fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty that awaits, we recommend renting a car, which grants you the freedom to explore at your own pace. As you drive up the winding roads towards Parque Nacional Sierra de las Nieves, be prepared to be mesmerized by the breathtaking vistas unfolding before your eyes. Majestic mountains stretch as far as the eye can see, and the ever more crisp mountain air fills your lungs, the further you rice above the sun burnt coastline.

The road signs probably says Sevilla and Ronda, but be bold and look up Setenil de las Bodegas on your car map. Don’t loose faith in the directions and small roads it leads you on to. It is worth the bumps and narrow turns. Because making a detour to the captivating town of Setenil de las Bodegas is a must on your itinerary. Nestled in the heart of the mountains, Setenil de las Bodegas is famous for its unique architecture, with houses built directly into the cliffs. As you stroll through the narrow streets, the rock formations towering above you create a sense of wonder and intrigue. Take your time to explore the cozy cafes and charming shops, and don’t forget to indulge in the local gastronomic delights offered by the town’s traditional taverns. Yes, that is your lunch.

Now move on

To Ronda – a Tapestry of History and Beauty

Continuing your journey, the captivating town of Ronda beckons. Perched atop a towering cliff, Ronda offers a tapestry of history and architectural wonders. Explore the ancient Puente Nuevo bridge, an engineering marvel that spans the Tajo Gorge, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Discover the fascinating history of Ronda at the Arab Baths, the Mondragon Palace, and the impressive bullring, one of the oldest in Spain.

After a day of sightseeing, it’s time to indulge in the culinary delights that Ronda has to offer. Doing a fairly poor job of keeping away from all the inviting fashion- wine, and gourmet shops we usually end up at a number of nice restaurants serving traditional Andalusian tapas and sometimes even local fine dining experiences. Savor local specialties such as Rabo de Toro (oxtail stew) or the refreshing gazpacho, all while taking in the panoramic vistas that unfold before your eyes. Or well, you can always go with a set Tapas menu. Tragata is a good pick.

A Scenic Farewell

Sunset Drive Down the Mountains

As the sun begins its descent, bid farewell to the mesmerizing heights of the next door Parque Nacional, Sierra de Grazalema – oddly painted in saturated coral and pink tones as you drive back down the mountain range. The golden and coral rays of the setting sun cast a warm glow over the landscape, illuminating the rolling hills and verdant valleys. This picturesque descent is the perfect ending to your adventure, allowing you to reflect on the beauty you’ve witnessed and carry the memories of this journey forever.
